"The Holy Spirit will help you reinterpret everything
that you perceive as fearful, and teach you that
only what is loving is true."

A Course In Miracles

There is a voice narrating the story of your life all day long. It is this voice which determines how you will FEEL about your day, your week, your year, your life. When you allow the ego to do the voiceover work in the documentary that you call your life, you have relinquished control to an insane producer and director. Therefore, it is important to remember that you have a CHOICE about who will narrate your movie today.

Stage-ActressWhen the ego narrates your story, the sadness, anxiety, excitement, longing, desire, desperation and anger get milked to the very last drop of drama and despair. Overacting is the norm and most anything can become ridiculously intense. Every scene gets played to the balcony for maximum effect and the scenery is getting chewed all day long, even if it is all happening mentally while the body remains quite seemingly calm and normal. This is quite often an inner performance or one done for very private audiences of one or two. At various points, you as the lead character will most likely fall to your knees at the center of the stage and sob something like, "WHY is this happening or me?" or "When is it going to be MY turn?" Or if you are more of a movie performer, you may become very quiet and still quiet while the camera zooms in for your closeup as you whisper your lines and a single tear very slowly travels down your cheek. It IS a very juicy scene . . . but it makes you FEEL exhausted, depleted and tragically "special."

The Holy Spirit narrates the exact same story and circumstances quite differently. The Holy Spirit is a loving kind and joyous director and producer. The narration is done with love and gentle humor. Under His direction you play the scenes quite differently - some lines get cut and others played up - you find yourself, even in the midst of great loss, saying things like, "It was so wonderful while it lasted and I will always treasure that time we had together. It made my life so much sweeter." And you will feel blessed as you smile through the tears. Even the musical score is very different. Everything contributes to the overall FEEL of each scene.

You are always free to tell the story of your day by going one direction or the other. There really is no in-between place. You are either choosing the loving direction of the Holy Spirit, or the fearful path of the ego - and you can tell by how you FEEL, which path you have chosen in that moment.

And the wonderful news is that you can change your mind at ANY MOMENT, no matter how far down the path you have gone. At any second you can fire the ego and begin again with the Holy Spirit. At times you may have to do this over and over again in just one day if an old painful way of thinking has gotten activated. Do not let this discourage you. Be diligent but gentle. Keep choosing the path that activated the Christ Consciousness within you and each small step forward will bring more conviction and more breathing space.

You are not alone. No one is alone. We are here. We are ready. We are listening. All loss is temporary. There is so much more good to come.
